We offer a primary referral service for patients with new neurological complaints identified in consultation with their general practitioner. We can help to identify and treat issues pertaining to many common neurological conditions such as

  •         Migraine

  •         Seizure disorders             

  •         Stroke

  •         Multiple sclerosis             

  •         Neuromuscular disease

  •         Movement disorders      

  •         Neurodegenerative disease

What should I bring to my appointment?

  • Medicare card

   

  • Referral letter to see the neurologist containing our practice name and address

  • Any medical history, previous specialists' letters and any past scans or pathology reports. You can ask your GP or medical centre receptionist to fax these straight to us on 03 9978 4828.

MOVEMENT DISORDERS

We provide a specialist comprehensive service for patients with movement disorders including

  • Parkinson's disease      

  • Atypical parkisnonism

  • Essential tremor             

  • Frequent falls

  • Dystonia                         

  • Tourette's syndrome

 

Device assisted therapies such as deep brain stimulation, apomorphine infusion and levodopa/carbidopa intestinal gel (Duodopa) infusion are all available through Canterbury Neurology.

During our phone call to book your appointment, we will discuss the potential cost of your visit, the medicare rebate and the out of pocket expense.

BOTULINUM TOXIN

Botulinum toxin is approved for use in Australia to be administered by specially trained neurologists to treat a range of conditions including 

  • Chronic migraine where other treatments have failed

  • Hemifacial spasm 

  • Cervical dystonia

  • Blepharospasm

  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
